This weekend we went on our annual Klondike trip where the patrols built sleds and worked together to get points on stations about scout skills such as fire building, orienteering, and knot tying. This year, our troop ran the slalom and semaphore stations. After a full day of fun stations with the patrols making lunch in the middle, the day ended with a delicious dinner followed by an egg drop contest and the announcement of the winning patrol. This year our Lumberjacks patrol got the record time for the two man saw station, and our very own Penguins patrol were the winners of the entire competition in addition to winning multiple of the individual stations. This was an amazing and fun packed trip and we look forward to it again next year.
-Carson, First Class This weekend we had an amazing time at camp Rodney learning how to live in a plane crash survival situation! The patrols worked together and built their own shelters, camp gadgets, and an SOS sign so we can be rescued with some fun games worked in to the program. We also had three first year scouts earn their totin’ chips in the axeyard and learn new camping skills.
- Carson, First Class This weekend was a blast! Full of shotgun and rifle shooting. While we had fun shooting we also had a lot of fun with our FOUR service projects including flag retirement. Unfortunately we had such a fun time there were no pictures taken but there was a lot of smiles!
-Cody B Star Scout The camping trip in January was enjoyable, but it was also a fantastic learning opportunity. We all appreciated the unique camping trip concept, which differed greatly from traditional scout skills and badges. All of the scouts acquired new talents that they would definitely use outside of scouting! The Lone Pine and Windy Point Sites at Camp Rodney offered fantastic views of the beach and bay for the camping trip.
-Cody, First Class Scout. First year camp was a fun camping trip at Camp Cone's Site 8. We all enjoyed the site and had a good laugh at the campfire ceremony which included lots of fruit-off games. We taught the new first-year Scouts basic scout skills such as first aid, fire building, and many more. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed this particularly chilly spring camping trip.
(Scoutmasters note: Site 8 is pretty far to lug gear. Site 5 is also nice and a bit closer. Also, big thanks to Bobby's Potties who donated two porta-pots and a hand-wash station for the weekend!) -Cody, Tenderfoot Scout Shooting weekend was a fun weekend where some scouts shot rifles and some scouts went on a hike. We also built a trebuchet to launch tennis balls. Everyone liked the well-maintained Dan Beard campsite at Camp Horseshoe. Even though it was a bit rainy the Adirondacks were nice. Most people enjoy camping even when it's cold and wet outside.
The Klondike Derby was a fun weekend using Scout skills and handmade sleds built by Scouts. The Klondike Derby is an annual camping trip that most patrols participate in and try to win the Klondike Silver Sled trophy. The Klondike derby is a test of physical and mental toughness, endurance, and strength. As well as a test of each patrol's trust, friendship, scout spirit and team skills.
-Cody The Spring - Winter court of honor was long overdue. However there was lots of awards handed out and I felt very proud of the troop I am a part of here. We divided up what is usually one big group into a total of 6 mini Court of Honors to practice social distancing and to inform everyone safely about the awards we have earned. It was different, but still fun and amazing. The Scouts in the senior patrol who planned it, made it work very well.
-Cody The February PLC was very productive we got a lot planned for the next few months. We are working on ways to boost our attendance. Over all we all agreed with each other and got what we think our patrols would want to do in the next few up coming months. Some of the things we planned were the 2 upcoming camping trips, some meeting plans, and some other important dates.
-Cody This camping trip was fun with a theme of Zombies VS. Survivors. The best part of the camping trip was the beach view at Camp Rodney. It was a camping trip that introduced scout skills to the new scouts. Zombies caught scouts by throwing flour causing wounds. Overall both the program activities and campfire program were amazing. We slept in 3 cabins with bunks and each patrol had its own cabin which were split between 12 scouts and 3 adults for social distancing.
