Parents & Caregivers

Parents are essential to the success of our troop. Their support and participation make it possible for our scouts to grow, advance, and thrive. Parents play a key role in Boards of Review, which are required for rank advancement, while also having the flexibility to choose the level of involvement that works best for their family.

MERIT BADGE COUNSELORS
Serving as a Merit Badge Counselor is a rewarding way to share your knowledge and support Scouts on their trail to Eagle. Counselors may choose to work exclusively with Troop 247 or make themselves available to the broader Council.
Getting started is simple:
  1. Complete the BSA Adult Application (if not already registered).
  2. Fill out the Merit Badge Counselor Information Form.
  3. Ensure your Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) is up to date.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Scouting is a family-led program, not a drop-off activity, and relies entirely on volunteer support. While a small team currently manages troop operations, additional help is essential to sustain and strengthen the program. Every family is encouraged to participate in some capacity.
Key Volunteer Needs:
·  Treasurer: Manage troop funds, pay bills, maintain records, and present monthly reports.
·  Fundraising Chair: Plan and oversee troop fundraising events in line with national guidelines.
·  Adult Quartermaster: Support youth Quartermaster in maintaining and tracking troop equipment.
·  Outdoor Activities Chair: Coordinate logistics for campouts, including reservations and transportation.
·  Committee Members-at-Large: Assist with Boards of Review, Courts of Honor, events, and adult participation on outings.
