CAMPING & Activities

January - wilderness survival

1/26/2024

This weekend we had an amazing time at camp Rodney learning how to live in a plane crash survival situation! The patrols worked together and built their own shelters, camp gadgets, and an SOS sign so we can be rescued with some fun games worked in to the program. We also had three first year scouts earn their totin’ chips in the axeyard and learn new camping skills.

March shooting weekend

3/18/2023

This weekend was a blast! Full of shotgun and rifle shooting. While we had fun shooting we also had a lot of fun with our FOUR service projects including flag retirement. Unfortunately we had such a fun time there were no pictures taken but there was a lot of smiles!

January - Team Building trip

1/22/2023

The camping trip in January was enjoyable, but it was also a fantastic learning opportunity. We all appreciated the unique camping trip concept, which differed greatly from traditional scout skills and badges. All of the scouts acquired new talents that they would definitely use outside of scouting! The Lone Pine and Windy Point Sites at Camp Rodney offered fantastic views of the beach and bay for the camping trip.

April - First year Orientation Camp

4/17/2021

First year camp was a fun camping trip at Camp Cone's Site 8. We all enjoyed the site and had a good laugh at the campfire ceremony which included lots of fruit-off games. We taught the new first-year Scouts basic scout skills such as first aid, fire building, and many more. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed this particularly chilly spring camping trip.

(Scoutmasters note: Site 8 is pretty far to lug gear. Site 5 is also nice and a bit closer. Also, big thanks to Bobby's Potties who donated two porta-pots and a hand-wash station for the weekend!)

March - shooting weekend

3/20/2021

Shooting weekend was a fun weekend where some scouts shot rifles and some scouts went on a hike. We also built a trebuchet to launch tennis balls. Everyone liked the well-maintained Dan Beard campsite at Camp Horseshoe. Even though it was a bit rainy the Adirondacks were nice. Most people enjoy camping even when it's cold and wet outside.

klondike derby

2/28/2021

The Klondike Derby was a fun weekend using Scout skills and handmade sleds built by Scouts. The Klondike Derby is an annual camping trip that most patrols participate in and try to win the Klondike Silver Sled trophy. The Klondike derby is a test of physical and mental toughness, endurance, and strength. As well as a test of each patrol's trust, friendship, scout spirit and team skills.
